Days Of The New-Days Of The New

A really good CD of Grunge with acoustic guitar. Days of the New was led by Travis Meeks and were based in Louisville, Kentucky. Their debut album from 1997.Meeks had just turned 18. The sound reminds me of Alice In Chains Jar Of Flies recording. “Shelf In The Room” and “Touch, Peel and Stand” were heard on the radio the later reaching #1 on Billboards Mainstream Rock chart. I also really like “Now”, “What’s Left For Me” and “Whimsical”. “Cling” the last track has a hidden track after 2 minutes of silence of some acoustic guitar jamming and hand drumming. This has been released on the Music On Vinyl label in 2023 and I will be looking for it. He put out two more self titled albums all with different line-ups. I do have CD number 2 and will give that a listen to sometime. It appears to be different, with an orchestra, choir, and female vocals. Meeks has had trouble with drug and alcohol addiction as well as being arrested and hasn’t put out any new music since 2001.
