Another solo artist. Don’t know why I bought this one. Maybe the woman on the cover? Anyway, I bought two more CDs of hers after this. This Soul/Jazz/Dance CD is a homage to Coltrane. Vanessa sings with Peter Daou(not sure about the relation, not husband and wife) playing piano, electronic keyboards and drums. Of course saxophone is prominent in many of the tracks. Most of the songs mention him or are about him. “Passed” is about his death during The Summer of Love. “Trane Tripping” adds some Funkyness to the mix. The beats and keyboards sound good, vocals are sometimes whispered and seductive sounding. I like this CD. Maybe I will listen to the other two at some time.
