D’arey October-Guide To Teenage Glamour

This is a local band from the Reading area. The singer and guitarist goes by the name of D’arey October and is also the bands name. This is their second release after an EP a year earlier. I saw them perform at Vertigofest a show put on by Vertigo Records in West Reading in 1999 when this CD came out. This music is Rock/Hard Rock/Grunge maybe a little Punk. Not terribly original, it all sounds somewhat familiar but the songs are good especially the 24 minute EP which I also listened to. Fighting The Moon was one I listened to a few times and really like “Bats” and “Sunflower Seeds”. “Can You” is a Punk song that was reworked for the Teenage Glamour CD. I don’t think I ever played this one all the way through before. The music brings to mind Joan Jett and The Blackhearts and also Legal Weapon, Insane Jane , Mary’s Danish and other girl led bands of the 90’s. “The More…” and “The Rule Of The Bone” were ones I liked best on that CD. Saw this CD on Amazon listed for sale for $499. Heck, I’d sell this one for half that! Stacey, the owner of Vertigo records is listed in the thank yous and their contact address was in West Reading. Don’t know what happened to them. Next time I’m at Vertigo I will have to ask Stacey
