Another great album from Englishman Nick Saloman(The Bevis Frond). A great collection of his 60’s style Psychedelic and Garage Rock with some acoustic Folk mixed in. Lots of hooks and Nick’s fuzz toned guitar. A prolific artists he has been in many side projects and released countless albums. This one is from 2002. I had four or five of his CDs but were sold in 2013 except for this one. Since then I have bought 13 of his vinyl releases. His lyrics are very wordy, more stories than the usual verse and chorus. Although his earlier albums were strictly solo affairs he has lately been working with friends Andy Ward who played with Camel and Adrian Shaw who played with Hawkwind. The two standout tracks are “What Did For The Dinosaurs” and “Dustbins In The Rain(What Did For The Dinosaurs Pt. 2)” They open and close the record. The first part starts off acoustic with a nice mellow electric guitar outro while part two starts with a long psychedelic wah-wah guitar solo. The songs are about aging Rock Stars and their dislike of the new music being played. There are some Rockers like “The Wrong Side”, “Breathe Out”, “Candles” and “Good Enough For You” and the Acoustic “All Souls Day” “Yo-De-Lo” is another good one with daughter Debbie adding some vocals. At nearly 78 minutes it’s a long CD and is a double album that was reissued in 2020 on Record Store Day. I have never seen int but if I do I will buy it. One of his better albums.
