Z Z Top-Fandango!

Original

Another one I bought in 1975. There is no cover for this one and I can’t remember what happened to it. For as long as I can remember it has been in with their Tejas album. Side one is live recorded in 1974. I never liked this side and rarely played it. Consisting mostly of songs from the 50’s like “Thunderbird” and “Jailhouse Rock”, the last track is a 9 and a half medley of songs by Willie Dixon and John Lee Hooker. Although there were a couple good jams in it I thought there was too muck talking going on. Side two has six great songs about their home state of Texas. . “Balinese” is a night club and dance hall in Galveston were Illegal gambling was done. “Tush” was a big hit for them and reached number 20 on the charts. “Mexican Blackbird” is about a prostitute visited across the border. “I Heard It On The X” is about a radio station in Mexico that was blasted into Texas. “Blue Jean Blues” is a slow Blues. As always the playing is tight with Billy Gibbons laying down some economical solos. The record is in bad shape and will be trashed.
