Another album I originally bought from the guy in Delaware in 1987. I found this used copy about three years ago at a record store in Bloomsburg that I visited while in Shamokin visiting a friend. It’s an original 1972 pressing. The record sleeve has the order form for a Bizarre records sampler for a dollar. The cover is in fair shape the record sounds OK. No skips with little surface noise. This is another mostly instrumental Jazz Rock solo album with Mothers alumni Aynsley Dunbar, George Duke, and Don Preston and Jeff Simmons. Also on the record is Sal Marquez on trumpets, Erroneous on bass Tony Duran on slide guitar and Mike Altschul on sax, flute and clarinet. Recorded while he was recovering from his injuries suffered at The Rainbow in London, The Grand Wazoo released later that year was recorded at the same time. “Big Swifty” on side one is a good Jazz Rock piece with lots of ensemble playing. Side two has two songs with vocals by Marquez, Duran and Zappa. The Bluesy “Your Mouth” is the better of the two. “It Just Might Be A One Shot Deal” segues right into the title track. I really like the brass on this one with some soloing by George Duke on electric piano and Zappa on guitar. Another great record as are all his records from the 70’s. His work from the 80’s has some great songs but I don’t think any albums are consistent enough to make me want to buy any of them again.
