This originally came out on CD in 2004. This is a 2009 vinyl edition I bought at Barnes & Noble about five years ago. It was a little pricey,($50) but although I had all the records these songs come from on either vinyl cassette or CD most were sold so it was worthwhile to get it. It does come with his first single “The Loner” b/w “Sugar Mountain” There is also an insert with a poster of the front cover with liner notes on the other side. The 16 tracks were included based on original record sales, airplay, and known download history. They are arranged in chronological order. Side one has “Down By The River” and “Cowgirl In The Sand” both long jams from his second album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere with the Danny Whitten led Crazy Horse. Side two starts with “Cinnamon Girl” also from that record, “Helpless” from Deja Vu and three from After The Goldrush, the title track, “Only Love Can Break Your Heart” and “Southern Man”. Side three has “Ohio”, a C.S.N. &Y. single followed by three from Harvest “The Needle And The Damage Done”, “Old Man” and “Heart Of Gold”. The last on side three is “Like A Hurricane” one of my favorite songs of his. Side four has “Comes A Time”, “Hey Hey My My (Into The Black)”, “Rockin’ In The Free World” and “Harvest Moon”. A great collection and a great pressing. Sounds very good. Most of these songs were on Decade, the compilation he released in 1977 that I owned back then. I don’t know what happened to that three record set. I don’t think I would have ever sold it.
