Neil Young-Earth

A live album recorded with Promise Of The Real , a band that includes Lucas and Micah Nelson sons of Willie. Recorded at shows in 2015, the three record set was released in 2016. Many of the songs deal with Neil’s issues with the environment: “Mother Earth”, the Monsanto Corporation: “Seed Justice”, “The Monsanto Years” and corporate greed: “Big Box”, “People Want To Hear About Love”. Interspersed with these are some lesser known songs like “Hippie Dream” from Landing on Water. “Vampire Blues” from On The Beach, and “Western Hero” from Sleeps With Angles. “After The Gold Rush” gets a big cheer from the audience after the line “And I felt like getting high” as it did when I saw him play it in 1976 with the Stills Young Band. “Love And Only Love” from Ragged Glory gets a 28 minute treatment and takes up sides 5 and 6. The 15 minutes on side 5 has some good jamming, while side 6 is mostly comprised of feedback and noise. The playing is good but they are no Crazy Horse. There are lots of nature and animal sounds between each track and during some of the songs. On the inside of the gatefold cover there is a picture on Neil with a sign with the date 4 20 16 on it which is the national marijuana day.
