This is the soundtrack to a film of the same name released in 1972. It’s one I bought in ’74 or ’75 in a bin with some cutouts. I think the price was $1.99 but this record had no cutout. It’s a unique double album with a gatefold cover die cut to show the title on the record sleeves. The two flaps open up to show four panels of stills from the movie. The music is a hodgepodge of songs from his career at that time. Side one has two performances by The Buffalo Springfield from two TV shows in 1967, a medley of “For What It’s Worth”/ “Mr. Soul” and “Rock & Roll Woman” “Find The Cost Of Freedom” and “Ohio” are by Crosby. Stills, Nash & Young recorded live, possibly from their live at the Fillmore record. Side two starts with “Southern Man” again from C,S,N &Y. It’s 7 minutes long possibly edited down from the 13 minutes on their live record or maybe it’s from another show on that tour. That is followed by two songs from Harvest “Are You Ready For The Country” and “Alabama”. “Alabama” is from rehearsals for the record with Neil stopping the recording to discuss how to play it. Side three is a 15 minute rehearsal of “Words” with more discussion and some extended guitar and piano. Side four starts with some dialog from the movie then two classical pieces performed by The Tony And Susan Alamo Christian Foundation Orchestra And Chorus. “Soldier” is a new song with Neil singing and playing piano. The record closes with “Let’s Go Away For A While” an instrumental performed by The Beach Boys from their Pet Sounds album. The record has its issues but doesn’t sound too bad. I rented the movie sometime in the 90’s from Blockbuster. I don’t remember much of it.
