Yes-Drama

After the Tormato tour Jon Andrson and Rick Wakeman left the band. They were replaced by Geoff Downes and Trevor Horn from the New Wave band The Buggles. Another gatefold cover bt Roger Dean with lyrics on the record sleeve. This is one I got when I joined the Columbia House Record Club in 1980. After getting my 10 free albums I never bought the required ones and moved out of state and left no forwarding address. Horn cand sound like Anderson at times and with Squire’s and Howe’s background vocals this record doesn’t sound much different than other Yes records. Downes is no Rick Wakeman and keyboards are kept to a minimum with guitar and bass in the forefront. “Machine Messiah” is a ten minute track in three parts. “Tempus Fugit” is the most well known song from this record. “Run Through The Light” and “Does It Really Happen” were also heard on the radio. “Into The Lens” at eight and a half minutes is a song written by Downes and Horn intended for the new Buggles record they were working on before joining Yes. Their own version was on the final Buggles album released in 1981. Probably my least favorite Yes album at that point (later releases I liked even less) but not a bad record. After a short tour promoting the album the band broke up. Downes and Howe formed Asia with Carl Palmer and John Wetton. Horn concentrated on production work after this.
