After ’92’s Nonsuch XTC didn’t put an album out until 1999’s Apple Venus Volume 1. Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding recorded many songs at that time. Acoustic and orchestral songs were put on Volume 1. The more Rock and electric songs were put on the double album Wasp Star in 2000. This is an import from the U.K. on the Cooking Vinyl label. It’s a used one in like new condition I bought around ’01 or ’02. Played record one a few times. Didn’t really like any of the songs. The best are the three on side three, “My Brown Guitar”, “Boarded Up” and “I’m The Man Who Murdered Love”. The last song on side four “The Wheel And The Maypole” is not too bad. Nothing on here is as good as anything on English Settlement. Will be selling this one. This was their last studio album of new material. They have since released demo versions of these songs as well as a record of instrumental versions.
