Wishbone Ash-Wishbone Four

Original

This is one I bought in 1973 when it was released. I was disappointed after listening to it because it was different from Argus. The songs were shorter and there were too many ballad type songs. Although each side starts off with a good rocker, “So Many Things To Say” on side one and “Doctor” on side two the more Folk sounding songs like “Ballad Of The Beacon”, Sorrel”, “Sing Out The Song” and “Everybody Needs A Friend” lack the great harmony guitars of Andy Powell and Ted Turner. There is some soloing, especially on the long fade-out on “Everybody Needs A Friend” but it is more mellow and laid back. The last song “Rock ,N. Roll Widow” is another good rocker and “No Easy Road” has a bit of a Funk sound with some horns added for the first time in a Wishbone Ash song. The quiet songs do have some pleasing melodies and it’s not a bad record it’s not one of my favorites. The cover is in poor shape and the record has many skips with some deep scratches visible on the record. This is one for the trash.
