Another good record from Lucinda Williams. Although this is the first time listening to this one I think I like it better than her last one. This is a two record set with gatefold cover. Lyrics are printed on the two record sleeves. Bill Frisell and Greg Leisz play electric guitars on all tracks. also helping out are members of Buick 6. “House Of Earth” is a song with words by Woody Guthrie set to music by Lucinda. “Doors Of Heaven” and “If There’s A Heaven” are written in memory of the fathers of Lucinda and her husband Tom Overby who passed away in 2015. Record two starts with the title track with some great Blues guitar and her singing which has it’s flaws by this time but still fits the song. “Factory” is the Springsteen song. “Faith And Grace” a traditional Gospel song may be my favorite one on the record. At over 12 and a half minutes long it’s filled with great instrumentation and Lucinda’s heartfelt singing. These last two records have been her best since her earlier work.
