Thev Who-By Numbers

Original

An album I bought in 1975 when it was released. The cover was drawn by John Entwistle. At some time I connected the dots . Another good record but as good as the last three records of theirs I listened to. “Squeeze Box” on side one became a big hit internationally and is one of their better known songs. “Slip Kid” was another song played on the radio. “However Much I Booze” is also good. Those three songs are the best on side one. Side two was the one I played most often. The first song “Success Story” written by Entwistle is about the music business. “They Are All in Love” is a mellow song with piano by Nicky Hopkins. “Blue, Red and Grey” is an acoustic song with Townshend playing a ukulele and Entwistle playing a French horn in the background. One of my favorite tracks on the record. “How Many Friends” sounds a little angry with Pete singing “You can count them on one hand” and “In A Hand Or A Face” another rocker finishing out the side. The cover is not in the best shape but the record sounds OK.
