Bob Weir-Blue Mountain

Only his third true solo album. This is an album of Folk, Country, and Cowboy songs. A two record set with gatefold cover. The record sleeves have lyrics and liner notes. Weir plays acoustic guitar on all tracks. I heard the single “Only A River” in August of 2016 at work. I was working in the basement making plastic battery covers our company made for East Penn Manufacturing. We had a crappy little radio down there that would sometimes pick up a station. That day I got WXPN to come in and heard that song. Shortly after that I bought the record and also got laid-off. “Only A River” is the first track and it’s a great one. “Lay My Lilly Down” is another good one sounding like a traditional Appalachian folk song. Those are the two I liked best, the rest are OK but not really what I like to listen to. The only song with some electric guitar and sounding a little like a Grateful Dead song is “Ghost Towns” Will probably sell this one. Weir is still touring with Dead & Company although he is in his late 70’s.
