The Warlocks was the original name of The Grateful Dead. This band is from L.A. and formed in the late 80’s by Bobby Hecksher their only constant member. This is record number four from 2007. I bought this a few years ago although their 2013 album Skull Worshiper was the first I bought by them that year. The three songs on side one have a very Doom Metal sound without the heavy guitars. More dark and hypnotic and lo-fi sounding with some Drone type jamming. Side two is a little more upbeat with “Slip Beneath” almost danceable. “Zombie Like Lover” sounds a bit like The Jesus and Mary Chain. This is my first time listening to this record. I like it but it’s another record with some smudges that make it very scratchy sounding in places.
