War-War

The five year anniversary of when I started this project on April 1 2019. Just starting the W’s. Should finish up sometime in July. This is the third album from War after two led by Eric Burdon. Released in 1971 this is one I bought about five years ago. I don’t know where I bought it or how much i paid for it but it is an original pressing from that year. The record and cover are in good shape. My first time listening to this one although I knew the first song ” Sun Oh Son” because that song was on their live record that I used to have on CD. That song like the other five is a mix of Soul, R & B, Funk, and Jazz. “Lonely Feelin'” has a James Brown vibe to it. “War Drums” is a mostly instrumental song with chanting of the bands name and some conga and bongo’s. “Fidel’s Fantasy” is a strange song with spoken lyrics criticizing Fidel Castro. At just over 11 minutes there is a nice long Jazzy jam with flute and sax soloing. The cover concept is by Eric Burdon. A good sounding record and one I will want to keep.
