Ugly Cassanova is a side project of Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse. Members of The Black Heart Procession and Red Red Meat also play on the record. This is one I originally bought on CD in 2002 when it came out. Not sure why I bought it because I had never heard of them. I really liked the first four songs “Barnacles”, “Spilled Milk Factory”, “Parasites”, and “Hotcha Girls”. These are on the first side of the two record reissue on vinyl I bought in 2015. The fifth song”(No Song)” is as far as I got on the CD. I When playing the record I didn’t recognize any of the other songs but liked them all. The music is different and kind of quirky which is why I like it. The guitars are acoustic with bass drums keyboards and violin. Many of the songs use odd percussion. “Ice On The Sheets has a Funky sound while “So Long For The Holidays” has a Shoegaze sound. This reissue comes with four bonus tracks on side four equally as good as the rest. Comes with an insert with more artwork like the cover on one side and lyrics on the other. A good record but the only one they made except for some songs for a movie soundtrack in 2010.
