Robin Trower-Twice Removed From Yesterday

This is his first record after leaving Procol Harum in 1971. He recruited Jim Dewar who had been in Stone The Crows on bass and vocals and Reg Isidor on drums. Trower plays his own style Of Hendrix’s Blues and Hard Rock guitar. This 1973 release is one I heard much later after it’s release. I bought this used record sometime in the 80’s. I haven’t played this in a while but it’s a great record. “I Can’t Wait Much Longer” and the title track are great Psychedelic spacey songs that might be called Stoner Rock today. “Hannah” might remind you of the title track from his next record but it has an awesome jam near the end. “Sinners Song” also has a great solo with guitar bass and drums really cooking. “Rock Me” is a cover of the Blues classic. “Daydream” and “Ballerina” show a more mellow sound like Jimi’s “Little Wing”. The album was produced by Procol Harem’s Matthew Fisher. The cover is by Funky Paul who would do the cover for his early records.
