The Triffids-Born Sandy Devotional

They are a band from Perth Australia. This 1986 release is a used one I bought in the early 90’s. I was living in the Far Northeast of Philadelphia just barley inside the city limits. Working in Conshohocken I would drive 76 to Roosevelt Blvd. to Bustleton Ave. and then to Hendrix St. where I lived. There was a record store across from The Roosevelt Mall that I would stop at sometimes on the way home from work. What attracted me to this record was the name Triffids which I remember was a Sci-Fi movie I had watched about man eating plants. I kind of liked the cover too. The music is kind of Indie and Folk Rock sounding. A couple of the songs are about failed relationships. One deals with a suicide. I must not have played this much, the only song I recognized was “Life Of Crime” one I must have put on one of my Rock and Roll tapes I recorded of songs I liked. Although I don’t have the earliest ones I made when I was still living at home Since 1980 I have made over 200 of them. That is the most rocking song on the record. “Wide Open Road ” was released as a single. This record is well regarded in the Australian music press.
