Traffic-Shootout At The Fantasy Factory

This is from 1973 and one I never bought for some reason. Like Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys early releases had the corners cut off of the cover. Still employing Rebop Kwaku Baah they also added Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section members Roger Hawkins and David Hood. Hood is the father of Drive-By Truckers Patterson Hood. This line-up would go on tour to support the album and release the On The Road live recording. This is a used early pressing I bought about ten years ago. I did know the title track and “Sometimes I Feel So (Uninspired)” because they were on their live album I did buy that year. To me this one is not as good as their last two although “Tragic Magic” is a great instrumental that jams like the best of their songs. “Evening Blue” is a little too mellow and the nearly 14 minute “Roll Right Stones” is one I will have to listen to again. some of it made me thing of Styx “Man In The Wilderness”.
