Tones On Tail-Pop

Tones On Tail were formed after the break-up of Bauhaus. Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins got roadie Glenn Campling to play bass and put out this their only LP. Released in 1984 it’s heavy on the bass with some synthesizers but it’s not dance music. Keeping with Bauhaus’s Gothic style the music is somber with not many hooks. “Lions: the first song is one I had heard before. Putting this on for the first time I liked side two better. “Slender Fungus starts off with about a minute of some odd percussion sounds that sound pretty cool going from left to right speaker and keep up for the rest of the song. “Movement Of Fear” will get you woofers shaking with its heavy bass. “Real Life” has the most melodic chorus on the record. This is a 2020 Record Store Day release with a slightly different cover. After this Ash and Haskins got together with Bauhaus bandmate David J. to form Love And Rockets putting out four or five records. In 2008 all four Bauhaus members reunited for the album Go Away White which I listened to in 2019 at the beginning of this project.
