Throwing Muses are a band formed in Rhode Island and later moved to Boston. Kristen Hersch and stepsister Tanya Donelly put out four albums and a couple EP’s before Tanya left in 1991 to join The Breeders with Kim Deal and later formed her own band Belly. Kristen Hersch carried on with bassist Bernard Georges and drummer David Narcizo. I had four of their vinyl records and a couple of cassettes, all gone, and three CD’s which I still have. Been looking for those early vinyl records to buybagain but can’t find them anywhere. They have not been reissued as far as I know. This was originally a 2013 release on CD later released on vinyl on Record Store Day 2020. There are 32 songs on this double album with gatefold cover. Lyrics are printed on the inside but are small white letters on a white and light green background making them very hard to read. I’ve played side one a couple times and thought it sounded good. The other three sound good also. Some delicate acoustic songs and other more rocking songs make this a well balanced record. Many of the songs are around one minute long or less, nothing over four minutes. A lot to listen to in one sitting I’ll have to spend more time on this one.
