Temple Of The Dog-Temple Of The Dog

This 1991 release is a tribute to Andrew Wood who was in the band Mother Love Bone an early Grunge band. Also in Mother Love Bone was Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament. Gossard and Ament had previously been in Green River with Mark Arm and Steve Turner who later formed Mudhoney. After Wood’s death from a heroin overdose in 1990. Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, who was a good friend of Woods got together with Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron, Gossard, Ament and guitarist Mike McCready to put out this tribute. “Reach Down” with an awesome solo by McCready and “Say Hello 2 Heaven” were written by Cornell after his death. Other songs were added to the record making 10 for the release. Those two were heard on the radio as well as “Hunger Strike”. All songs have the typical Grunge sound. Eddie Vedder adds some background vocals on several songs. Around the time of this recording Vedder, Gossard, Ament, and McCready formed Pearl Jam. This is a 25th anniversary edition from 2016 on three sides with an etching on side four. With a gatefold cover it also has a 3-D lenticular copy of the cover attached to the front. Also comes with an insert with lyrics and liner notes. This is one I originally bought on cassette in the early 90’s.
