Tangerine Dream- The Collection

Tangerine dream is a German band, one of the pioneers of Electronic music that came to be called Krautrock. Formed by Edgar Froese in the late 60’s he has been the only constant member until his death in 2015. Another one from The Collector Series I’m not sure when I bought this but these were all bought between 1986 to 1992 when I lived in Claymont, Upper Darby and Philly. This one is from ’87 and is an English import. These tracks cover their earliest work from 1969 to 1972. There are two 20 minute plus pieces on this double album set “Alpha Centauri” and “Birth Of Liquid Plejades”. These are strange spacey tracks that sound like they could be the soundtrack of a horror or science fiction movie. Mostly composed of synthesizers, mellotron, organ, and the odd percussion these two are soothing in some spots. Side three has the two most accessible tracks “Fly And Collision Of Comas Sola” that features some flute and “Journey Through A Burning Brain” that has some electric guitar. Both are over 13 minutes long. The last track on side four is a 1984 remix of “White Clouds” using more modern electronic instruments. They have put out over 70 albums with many different musicians, since the mid 80’s their music is more in the New Age style.
