Strawbs-From The Witchwood

Although recording an album with Sandy Denny in 1967 it wasn’t released until 1973. This is their third release after Dragonfly and the live Just a Collection of Antiques and Curios that I used to own. This 1971 recording is the last to feature Rick Wakeman before he joined Yes. The band had an ever changing line-up. This one featuring Dave Cousins, Tony Hooper, John Ford, Richard Hudson and Wakeman were together for 2 albums. I heard the song “The Hangman And The Papist” on the radio in the early 70’s and was another one I had on one of my mix tapes. The song features some organ by Wakeman. The title track is in the style of a traditional English Folk song while the rest are Folk Rock or Progressive Folk. “Sheep” is another one I like. This is a used one I bought sometime in the 90’s. The cover and record are in fair shape. Probably won’t be keeping this one and of course I have a digital copy of it.
