I had a 1990 cassette called The Stranglers greatest hits. Those songs are all on this release which originally came out on CD in 2002. This is a Record Store Day release from 2020. “Peaches” their first single from 1977 had some controversial lyrics many people thought were sexist. “Walk On By” is a cover of a song first recorded by Dionne Warwick and later many others. This has an edited version of the original six and a half minute one that was on the cassette. Early songs feature prominent bass and organ. These songs fall into the New Wave or Punk category and most are OK but nothing outstanding. This English band is still active today with one founding member remaining.
