Stephen Stills-Manassas

A used record I bought sometime in the last ten years. This two record album with gatefold cover came out in 1972. This is an original pressing in good shape but is missing the poster and lyric sheet that came with it. Each of the four sides has its own title and the music is generally the same type of music. Side one is mostly Rock with a bit of a Latin influence on “Cuban Bluegrass”. Side two is composed of six Country and Bluegrass songs. Side three called Consider is the most interesting. The first song “It Doesn’t Matter” was released as a single and another one I taped of the radio back then. It’s a great Country Rock song. “Johnny’s Garden” is a nice acoustic song. “How Far” has a definite Grateful Dead vibe to it and Bill Wyman plays bass on “The Love Gangster” one he co-wrote with Stills. Side four Titled Rock & Roll Is Here To Stay has four Rock and Blues flavored songs. “The Treasure” an 8 minute song features Stills playing some long electric guitar solos. The final song “Blues Man” is an acoustic tribute to Jimi Hendrix, Al Wilson(of Canned Heat and Duane Allman. Overall, a good album and the record itself is in good condition with no pops, crackles or scratchyness.
