Stereolab-Dots And Loops

This is a 2012 reissue of this 1997 release on the 1972 label. Bought it sometime in the last ten years. Although other reissues on this label have been much maligned on Discogs this one is fairly flat and sounds good. Another really great record and although I bought the CD around 20 years ago the only song I knew was the first, “Brakhage” one I put on my Best Of Stereolab cassette I made in 2001. The rest of the record sounds more mellow with lots of brass and strings arranged by Sean O’Hagan again. The 17 and a half minute “Refractions In The Plastic Pulse” has a couple cool jams in between vocals by Laetitia Sadier sung in French. Also a bit more electronic sounds and experimentation on this one. A really nice listen and one I will want to hear more of.
