Steely Dan-Gaucho

This was their last release (1980) until their 2000 album Two Against Nature. A used album I bought about ten years ago. A little scratchy but sounds good. Tye first record of theirs I own where I didn’t love every track. “Hey 19”, another single that made the Top 40, “Babylon Sisters” and “Time Out Of Mind” are all great Steely Dan songs. The other four I don’t care for, too much of a Smooth Jazz sound. As usual Becker and Fagen used many musicians like Randy and Michael Brecker ,Tom Scott, Rick Marotta, Mark Knopfler, and Rick Derringer among others. Jazz pianist Keith Jarrett sued them over the song “Gaucho” for copyright infringement of one of his compositions. He got a writing credit and royalties. I think I still have the CD of Two Against Nature. I don’t remember playing it much. Walter Becker put out a great record 11 Tracks of Whack in 1994 that I had on cassette. Love to find that one on vinyl. Becker died in 2017 from cancer.
