This was recorded at the final 10 night stand of his E Street Band reunion tour in June of 2000. Begun in Europe in April of ’99 it was his first tour with the band in 11 years. In September of ’99 they came to Philadelphia for six shows at the new Wells Fargo Center built in ’96. I had tickets for the September 16th date but it was canceled because of a hurricane. The show was rescheduled for Sept. 24th at The Spectrum because there was an event at the Wells Fargo Center going on that night. As it happened it was the day after his 50th birthday and rumors began circulating that it would be a special show and we were not disappointed as he played a rousing version of “The Fever”, rarely played and the only time played on this tour. He started the show by saying how much he loved this venue,This c the first arena he ever played at. This three record set with a tri-fold cover was recorded at Madison Square Garden at various dates on their 10 night stay. Some great songs on here: An electrified “Youngstown”, and “Atlantic City” a haunting “The River” and a rocking three guitar attack from Bruce, Steve Van Zandt, and Nils Lofgren on “Murder Incorporated”. Several new songs were played including “American Skin(41 Shots)” and the wonderful “Land Of Hopes And Dreams”. A rather low key acoustic version of “Born In The U.S.A.” was also performed. An extended “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” included band introductions and a short duet with wife Patti Scialfa on one of her songs. On “Jungleland”, which was part of the encore at the show I attended, Clarence Clemons hits every note perfectly on his sax solo. This concert was also released on DVD and broadcast on HBO.
