Soul II Soul-Keep On Movin’

Soul II Soul were a Soul,Dance,Hip Hop outfit from London led by DJ Jazzie B. I originally had this on cassette and still do. When I sold all my cassettes to a guy I met at the flea market in Barto, this one plus two others by Soul II Soul and two by Sade somehow were not sold. Titled Club Classics Vol. 1 they changed the name to Keep On Movin’ in the U.S. That was the name of one of the hits from the record, the other being “Back To Life”. I first heard those two songs while working at a steel mill in Conshohocken in 1989. The radio in the shop was mostly tuned to a Philly R& B station and those songs were heard quite often. I grew to like them and bought the cassette a few years later. This vinyl copy was bought four or five years ago. I like all the songs on the record. Although there is some Rapping it’s mellow, not the angry Gangster Rap that is so unlistenable to me. Vocals by Caron Wheeler, Rose Windross, and Do’reen. The version of “Back To Life” on this vinyl release is an a cappella version. The one on the cassette I have is the single version with more lyrics , strings and more instrumentation. “African Dance” is a good instrumental with a lot of flute.
