Sonic Youth-A Thousand Leaves

This is their tenth full length studio album from 1998. The first recorded at their own New York City studio. Another double album running about 73 minutes. This one has longer songs with six of the 11 tracks over 6 minutes long. Although I had this on cassette none of the songs sounded familiar when I listened to them. “Sunday” is the most normal sounding song on the record, as usual many tracks have their Noise Rock sounds in the middle of songs or at the end. The two long songs on side three “Hits Of Sunshine” and “Karen Koltrane” are both good. I also liked “Wildflower Soul” another long song with some Psychedelic guitar and “Hoarfrost”. Two Kim Gordon songs “Contre Le Sexisme” and “The Ineffable Me” with feedback and noise with her yelling vocals are kind of annoying.
