Sonic Youth-EVOL

This is their third long player released in 1986. Original members Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, who were married around this time, and Lee Renaldo were joined by their third drummer Steve Shelly. These four would play on every album until their break-up in 2011 which coincided with Thurston and Kim’s divorce. I originally had this on cassette on the SST label. This is a 2015 reissue bought about five years ago. Another really good record with a bizarre song like “In The Kingdom #19” alongside more conventional Rock songs like “Starpower” the only single from the record. “Tom Violence”,”Secret Girl”,with Kim singing/speaking, and “Shadow Of A Doubt” are songs I liked the best. The last song “Expressway To Yr Skull” has a great long ending that sounds a bit Ambient-like with the playing time listed as the infinity symbol because it has a locked groove at the end that keeps repeating the last couple of notes.
