Sonic Youth is a great band from New York City that plays Alternative and Noise Rock. This is the first recording of theirs I bought on cassette in 1992. Bought at Tower Records on Grant Ave. when I lived in Philly this tape was played constantly in my cars tape player in the fall of that year. Since I liked it so much I bought everything I could find by them starting with their first release Confusion is Sex and every new one up to NYC Ghosts and Flowers on cassette. I even had the rather obscure soundtrack for the movie Made In The U.S.A. I also the the first five SYR releases on CD which were more experimental recordings which were also sold in 2013. In 2013 I sold all my cassettes including 14 by sonic youth. In 2015 their entire catalogue was released on vinyl and I bought everything from EVOL to their last record The Eternal. This is a double album at about 60 minutes and is one of my favorites of theirs. Every song is good with their distinctive guitar heard on all their records. Many of their songs have breaks in the middle where they play their more experimental Noise Rock. Ones I put on my playlist are “Theresa’s Sound-World”,”Chapel Hill”,and “Purr”. Also really good is “Wish Fullfilment”,”Sugar Kane”,.and “On The Strip”.
