Patti Smith-Horses

This is her first record from 1975. Much acclaimed by Rock writers. “Gloria” the first song is a re-working of the Van Morrison song with Patti adding some of her poetry. Most of the songs like this one alternate between her speaking and singing. “Birdland” is another standout track with Patti telling a story with some great San Francisco style Psychedelic guitar in the background. Two songs on side two were co-written with Allen Lanier who plays guitar on “Elegy” a song for Jimi Hendrix and other dead Rock stars. Lanier of Blue Oyster Cult was involved with Patti at the time and she does a spoken introduction to one of the songs on their Agents Of Fortune record. “Land” sounds like “Gloria” with more of her poetry/stories. This is a used record I bought sometime in the mid 80’s. The record and cover are not in good shape. Inside is the insert from her Easter album with lyrics, photos and liner notes.
