Sleater-Kinney-The Hot Rock

This one is from 1999 and another reissue on Sub Pop records from 2014. This is probably my favorite of theirs or at least the CD I listened to the most. I bought the CD when it was originally released. The songs are movng away from the Punk Rock of their earlier records to a more Indie sound. The songs on side one are all good with “The Hot Rock” and “Banned At The End Of The World” two of my favorite sngs of theirs, both on my playlist. “Burn Don’t Freeze” has some nice alternating vocals from Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein. “The Size Of Our Love” on side two is a rare slower number with some violin. The only drawback to these songs is when Corin Tucker starts yelling and her shrill voice can get a little annoying. The cover was shot in Portland Oregon were Carrie and Corin relocated to. Carrie Brownstein was in the TV show Portlandia when the band split in 2005.
