Another one from The Collector Series. Doug Sahm and his band were from San Antonio Texas and played Tex-Mex,Country,Western Swing,Soul with a bit of Rock and Psychedelica mixed in. Their sound is recognized by Augie Meyer’s cheesy organ playing. They had a couple of hits in the 60’s, “She’s About A Mover” and “Mendocino” both on this album. There are many other good songs on the album like “At The Crossroads” a song covered on Mott The Hooples first record,”And It Didn’t Even Bring Me Down” ,a more soulful song, “Down On The Border” and “You’re Gonna Miss Me” a cover of fellow Texans 13th Floor Elevators. After relocating to San Francisco they added a bit of Psychedelica to the songs “Revolutionary Ways”,”Stoned Faces Don’t Lie”,and “Song Of Everything”. There are some “Good Time” songs here like “Sheila Tequila” and “It Was Fun While It Lasted. There is also a cover of Freddie Fender’s “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights”. As with all these albums on the Castle Communications label they are from the 80’s and are European imports.
