Siouxsie And The Banshees-Once Upon A Time

Siouxsie Sioux and friend Steven Severin were Sex Pistols fans and after following them for a while before deciding to start their own band. Theif first couple of albums were decidedly Punk but later ones found them turning to a more Gothic sound. This record collects their U.K. singles from 1978 to 1981. The first song “Hong Kong Garden” is a classic and easily their best known song. Their music has always been a bit out of the ordinary and songs like “The Staircase(Mystery)”,”Happy House” and “Playground Twist” show that to good effect. The last three tracks “Spellbound”,”Israel” and “Arabian Knights” are more polishd and forerunners of the Gothic scene. Released in 1981 I’m not sure when I bought this ,sometime in the 80’s. I had a couple more of their albums as well as three or four on cassette as well as a CD by The Creatures, a side project of Siouxsie’s and drummer Budgie that I believe I still have.
