This is a three record quadrophonic import from Japan. This was released in 1974 in Japan only. I remember looking at the record a few times at Village records. They had a section of albums from Jem Imports that I liked to look through. It was pretty expensive, around $20 I think(most single albums were around 5 or 6 dollars back then) and a lot of money for someone who only had a paper route. I did eventually buy it. This was recorded on a short tour of Japan in 1973.The New Santana Band had only two members from the original band from 1969,Drummer Michael Shrieve and percussionest Jose Areas. two new keyboard players, one Richard Kermode, from Carlos’s brother Jorge’s band Malo. This is their Jazz Rock Fusion period and the music is mostly instrumental. Only “Black Magic Woman” and “Oye Como Va” and maybe one other have vocals. Lots of ewlectronic sounds from electric piano and an echoplex played by Carlos. More of Santana’s trademark guitar playing ,and lots of Latin percussion. Side six is a 17 minute “Incident At Neshabar” that was my favorite side to listen to. Unfortunatly the cover and records are not in very good shape. Thev album wasv released on CD in the U.S. in 1991 and a vinyl re-issue in 2013.
