Santana-Abraxas

This is their second album from 1970. I’m not sure where this album came from. I know I had it when I moved out of my parents house in 1978 but it is not one I bought. It has a sticker covering the breasts of the two women on the cover with a review of the album from Time magazine on it. Looks like I tried to peel it off at some point and was successful in removing it from the woman on the drum. The rest is still there. This is considered the classic line-up of Carlos Santana,Gregg Rollie,David Brown Michael Shrieve on drums and Jose Areas and Michael Carabello on congas and timbales although it lasted only a few years. This is a great album and is considered a Rock classic. Their cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Black Magic Woman ” was a big hit for them as was the follow up “Oye Como Va” a Tito Puente song, largly instrumental with great solos by Carlos and Gregg. “Incident At Neshabur” is another instrumental and is a concert favorite of the band. Side two features two Rock songs by Gregg Rollie and three more instrumentals, one by Carlos and two by percussionist Jose Areas spotlighting his conga playing. The record itself is not in very good shape. One I need to replace.
