Todd Rundgren-Back To The Bars Posted on March 11, 2023 by David Meader One of my favorite live albums this was bought in early 1979 . One of the few records I bought when I was living in the apartment with my good friend and his two brothers.Again pushing the limits of a double album at over 103 minutes. Recorded in New York, L.A.,and Cleveland he is supported by 7 Utopia players both current and former on 2 sides and a band called The Hello People on the other two. Most of the music is from his Something/Anything?,A Wizard,A True Star,Faithful, and Initiation albums. All four sides are good,my favorites on the first record are “The Verb To Love” on side one and “The Last Ride” on side two. Side three is the one I listened to most starting with “Never,Never Land” followed by a kicking “Black Mariah” the “Zen Archer” and his “Medley” form A.W.A.T.S. replacing “Cool Jerk” with “I Saw The Light”. Side four has three from Something/Anything? and two good songs from Initiation “Eastern Intrigue” and The title track. The last song is “Hello It’s Me” with Rick Derringer playing guitar and Hall & Oates and Stevie Nicks adding their voices to the song. The cover and record are still in good shape.
