Linda Ronstadt-Heart Like A Wheel

One of her best records, her fifth from 1974,the song “You’re No Good” reached number 1 in the U.S. as well as the album itself. Although not a songwriter she is a great singer and interpreter of other peoples songs. Generally what I would call a Country album she covers songs by Hank Williams,J.D. Souther,Jackson Browne,Anna McGarrigle, and Lowell George, among others. Linda opened up for Jackson Browne at my High School in February of ’74. She played songs from this album which had not been released yet including “You’re No Good” and the Little Feat song “Willin'”. According to the High School newspaper which I helped to print, since I was taking print shop at the time, the principal was upset with Linda for singing the song that has the line “If You Give Me Weed,Whites, and Wine” at a High School. Don’t know who was in her band but David Lindley was introduced by Jackson Browne in his set. Linldey played fiddle on two tracks on this record.
