The Rolling Stones-Blue And Lonesome

The latest release from The Rolling Stones 11 years after A Bigger Bang, a record had but sold because I didn’t like it very much. This came out in late 2016 and is a record of Blues covers. A great sounding album, they cover songs by Little Walter,Jimmy Reed,Howlin’ Wolf, and Willie Dixon among others. Mick Jagger plays harmonica on most tracks and Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood’s guitars sound as fresh as ever. Charlie Watts is on drums and Darryl Jones plays bass as Bill Wyman left the band in ’93. Chuck Levell plays keyboards and Eric Clapton plays some slide guitar on “I Can’t Quit You Baby”. The songs are faithful to the originals with nothing much added. Although still touring they have not put an album out of original material in 18 years. Charlie Watts died in 2021,he was 80 years old.
