After their foray into Psychedelica on Their Satanic Majesties Request they returned with the more Blues oriented Beggars Banquet. This was followed by Let It Bleed in late 1969. The last album to feature contributions from Brian Jones, founder of the group, who was fired during the sessions and died three months later. Mick Taylor was hired as his replacement near the end of the recordings and plays on only two tracks. A great record this producede two of their best known songs “Gimme Shelter” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” both with a bit of Gospel influence. “Midnight Rambler”,”Monkey Man” “Let It Bleed”,,and “Live With Me” are also great songs. “Country Honk” is a Countryfied version of “Honky Tonk Woman” with fiddle and slide guitar by Taylor. “Love In Vain” is a Robert Johnson cover. This is the 50th anniversary edition I bought earlier this year at the record store in Lebanon for $20.
