Return To Forever-Return To Forever

The first album from this Jazz Fusion band led by Chick Corea. Thisis a German pressing from 1972 on the ECM label and produced by Manfred Eicher the founder of the label. The sound of the record is awesome with great seperation of the instruments. Led by Chick Corea’s electric piano, the band includs Stanley Clarke on electric bass,Arito Moreira on drums, his wife Flora Purim on vocals and Joe Farell on flute and sax. The first song”Return To Forever” is my favorite, a 12 minute composition that goes through a couple different moods and features Chick’s electric piano and flute by Farell, Flora Purim’s voice is heard in a couple of places. “Crystal Silence” is a quiet piece with sax and piano. “What Game Shall We Play Today” is a short song with Flora singing some lyrics . Side two is taken up by “Sometime Ago-La Fiesta” a 23 minute song with more vocals by Flora and a long bass solo by Stanley Clarke. It morphs into “La Fiesta” a Latin themed instrumental. A used record I bought about five years ago at the store near Oaks off of Egypt road.
