The Replacements-Let It Be

A popular album by the band, this their third long player came out in 1984. A more mature coming of age album Paul Westerberg’s writing is more diverse. The album starts out with three great songs “I Will Dare”,”Favorite Thing”,and “We’re Comin’ Out”. Followed by the amusing “Tommy Gets His Tonsils Out”.Two more songs close out the side, “Androgynous” a song about a “non-binary” or transgender couple way ahead of its time, later covered by Joan Jett, and a cover of Kiss’s “Black Diamond”. Side two, though not quite as good still has the largly instrumental “Unsatisfied”,”Seen Your Video” ,an attack on MTV, and three more teenage angst songs “Gary’s Got A Boner”,”Sixteen Blue” and “Answering Machine”. A reissue I bought while living in Mohnton.
