Pylon was a band formed in Athens Georgia in the early 80’s around the same time as R.E.M. and The B-52’S. Both bands were instrumental in getting Pylon recognition. This is their third album released in 1990 after a seven year hiatus. There music sounds like a combination of those two bands playing Indie/Jangle Pop with vocals by Vanessa Briscoe Hay. I had a compilation album called Hits on cassette and their first album Gyrate but they were sold in 2013. This is a used one I picked up about five years ago. First time listening to this record. “There It Is” is one I recognized,very catchy, and stuck in my head for a while. Some of the other songs sound good also. The band played some shows on and off last playing in 2008. In 2009 guitarist Randall Bewlew died putting an end to the band.
