A singer songwriter from Boston this self titled album came out in 1973. The first song “Avenging Annie” is a song I taped off the radio back in ’73 on my Sears cassette recorder. Those early mix tapes are long gone but I always remembered that song. It’s based on the song “Pretty By Floyd” written by Woody Guthrie. The Byrds covered it in a Bluegrass style on one of their early records. “Avenging Annie” uses the same basic tune but replaces guitar with piano as the main instrument. Adding many of his own lyrics it tells the story from Floyd’s wife’s perspective. Roger Daltry covered “Avenging Annie” on one of his solo albums. I’ve been looking for this record for quite a long time and finally found it earlier this year for $2.00. After playing side one “Summer,Summer” was also a song I knew probably from hearing it on the radio back then. Besides those two songs I don’t like the rest of the record. I put “Avenging Annie” on my playlist since my turntable can convert analouge to digital.
