This is the second album from this British band. The band is from Bristol,Portishead is a town near Bristol on the coast and it is also where my gradfather was born so I had to check it out. I had heard of the band but not their music. A 1997 release, this is on two records,total time about 50 minutes. First time listening to it I must say I didn’t like it too much. Very drum and bass heavy with some electronics. Some songs verging on Hip-Hop. Beth Gibbons is the singer with a good voice. The slower songs I liked better, but the record is just different enough that it may grow on me. “Only You” is one I have heard before and that’s the one I liked best.
